Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A HAULAGE contractor who runs five vehicles on his Operator's Licence found himself before the deputy South Wales LA in Cardiff because he had let his hgv licence expire and failed to renew it.

Ron Dugmore of Troed-yRhiw. Abercarn told the deputy that he had been driving for 38 years and had his own business with a licence for six vehicles, five of which were specified.

He said that for the past two years or more he had given up driving long distance himself and was only shunting at a large Abercarn factory.

"I was driving every day of my life, but my wife became ill three years ago and I have not been away during that time. I always used to carry my licence in the cab bi when I came off the road left it at home. It was ni until my wife came out hospital that we realised had expired," he told the LP "If I could have my licent back it would enable me t drive some of my vehicles t the testing station and do a occasional trip away whe one of my drivers was o holiday," he said.

The deputy said that IV Dugmore could have h licence renewed if he coul obtain some confirmatio from the Abercarn factor where he had been shuntini "If you get a satisfactor letter to say you have bee driving vehicles in their yar regularly. I am prepared t reconsider the matter an allow your licence to b renewed," he said.
