• Vehicles of up to 3 tons are to be constructed in Spain following the formation of a Spanish-German company which has been set up jointly by Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz. It is the first time the two German companies have carried out a joint operation of this kind in Western Europe and together they will hold 55 per cent of the starting capital, the balance being in the hands of two Spanish banks. The new company will be called Mevosa and will employ 4000 people.
