applied to the Transport Tribunal in Edinburgh on Tuesday for the restoration of two licences was told he was "blowing hot and cold."
Mr. Patrick McGrimmon, formerly trading as the Renfrew Carrier Company, appeared in person before the Tribunal and unsuccessfully asked for the return of his licences, revoked earlier this year by the Scottish Licensing Authority.
Mr. McGrimmon explained that he had sold his business but the new owner had failed to transfer the licences to his name. He had also failed to Comply with the declaration of normal user and a complaint had been made to the Authority.
Because the licences were still in his name, McGrimmon had to appear before the Licensing Authority. He admitted that the normal user was breached and the licences were revoked.
" I sold the business before the irregularity," he told the Tribunal. " I Was summoned before the Authority because the licences were in my name."
Mr. McGrimmon said he had received no money in the sale of his business.
" My object in coming to the Tribunal," he said, "is' to try and get back my licences so that I can start business again. I have been round my customers, and they are willing to give me the traffic if I get back on the road."
Sir Hubert Hull, chairman of the Tribunal, told McGrirnmon: "On the one hand you are saying I want my licence back,' but on the other hand you are saying '1 have sold my business.' You are blowing hot and cold over this.
"I think your only course is to apply for a new licence. The appeal is dismissed.".
