THE 28-vehicle A-licence appiication by Two Counties Transport, Ltd.. of Grimsby—a subsidiary of the Ross Group--due to be heard on Tuesday by the East Midlands Licensing Authority at Grimsby and scheduled to last for four days was, as anticipated. adjourned.
This was because the judgment of the Merchandise Appeal was not due to be given until later this week.
It is understood that an application may be made to adjourn the Two Counties application—and one by the same applicants for vehicles in the Yorkshire Area—sine die.
The Grimsby application brought over 200 objections.
Mr. Good Wins
THE national vice-chairman of the Road Haulage Association, Mr. D. 0. Good, was the defendant at Torpoint Magistrates' Court last week when he successfully contested a summons for using a vehicle from which avoidable excessive -smoke was emitted.
Mr. Good pleaded Not Guilty and won his case mainly on the technical point that it was the firm as a legal entity and not him personally who should have been charged. Mr. Good is managing director of the Pioneer Haulage Co., Ltd., of Beer, Devon.
• The driver concerned, Cyril John Northcott, was fined £2.
