Mr. P. Y. Moyse, formerly sales manager, has been appointed general manager of Pinchin 'Anson and Co.
Mr. John E. Poulson, formerly senior representative in London for The Astley Industrial Trust, Ltd., has been appointed manager of the company's London branch.
Mr. G. May, manager of the Kenning Group car contracts department since 1959 and previously for three years manager of the spares and accessories department, has been appointed fleet sales manager.
Mr. J. A. V. Watson will be appointed assistant managing director of Castrol Industrial, Ltd., upon the retirement of Mr. W. F. List on January 1, 1962. Mr. Watson's appointment as an assistant managing director of the parent company, Castro!, Ltd., to take effect on the same date, has already been announced.
The appointment of two new Regional Managers is announced by MasseyFerguson (U.K.), Ltd. Mr. R. V. Muspratt, at present Used Equipment Merchandising manager, becomes Northern Regional manager, while Mr. I. D. Birdseye, who has been until now an area manager, is appointed East Central Regional manager. Mr. J. H. Roberts becomes Industrial Sales manager. Mr. Guy Crane and Mr. John Crane, directors of Cranes (Dereham), Ltd., left England last Sunday for a 21-day visit to the Freuhauf plants throughout America, following the recent successful formation of Crane Freuhauf Trailers, Ltd., jointly by Cranes and Freuhauf International, Ltd., Detroit.
Mr. Roy Elliott has been appointed manager. national sales, The Power Petroleum Co., Ltd., at their London head office. Mr. Elliott joined The Power Petroleum company on his discharge from the R.A.F. in 1958. Mr. R. J. Burton has been appointed a district manager in the Northern Division, The Power Petroleum Co., Ltd., in succession to Mr. Elliott. Mr. Stanley Hedgecock, chief engineer of Laystall Engineering Co., Ltd., has been appointed to the board of Laystall Cromard, Ltd. Mr. Hedgecock has been with Laystall for 37 of the company's 58 years' existence.
Mr. A. G. Heasanan has been appointed managing director of the Warrington Motor Co., Ltd., main Ford dealers of Bank Street. Warrington, in succession to Mr. R. D. Youatt, who has resigned as director and manager of the company.
Mr. John T. McCarley has been appointed managing director of the British Division of The Yale and Towne Manufacturing Company. Mr. McCarley succeeds Mr. John 0. Sewell, who has resigned his position in order to accept an executive position with a prominent British company. Mr. McCarley, who is 52, joined Yale and Towne in 1936, in Detroit, Michigan.
Obituary
We record with deep regret the death of Alderman Dr. E. H. S. Scarr at the age of 72. Dr. Scarr had been a member of Rochdale Transport committee since 1928. He was chairman of the committee from 1943 until last year.
KUWAIT THREAT TO OIL SUPPLIES
THE Government would be able to organize a system of fuel rationing without delay if any stoppage of oil supplies from Kuwait made this necessary. s Skeleton rationing arrangements had been in existence since Suez, said Mr. Richard Wood, the Minister of Power, last week, and steps had been taken from time to time to keep them up to date.
Serious though an interruption in this supply would be, the Government was satisfied that it could be partly offset by the importation of oil from other sources.
