IT is highly likely that there will be some sort of announcement, within a month or so, about current hire-purchase charges, deposits and so on, Mr. G. H. Woolveridge, secretary of the Finance Houses Association, told this to The Commercial Motor this week.

He said that the current state of the business was such that rates, deposits and other matters ought to be looked at by all the large companies. Any announcement, he said, would certainly relate to " volume-produced " commercial vehicles.

40 m.p.h. for Buses Soon

DRAFT regulations which will raise the speed limit for buses and coaches from 30 m.p.h. to 40 m.p.h. outside built-, up areas have been laid before Parliament by the Minister of Transport.

The new speed limit will apply to all passenger vehicles having unladen weight of more than three tons or adapted to 'carry more than seven passengers, exclusive of the driver. Smaller vehicles are not subject to any speed limit outside built-up areas.

The draft Regulations, known as the Motor Vehicles (Variation of Speed Limit) Regulations, 1961, may be obtained from H.M. Stationery Office, price 2d.
