WHILE opening his correspondence YV about two months ago, the super Mtendertt of the Willenhall Depot of the Birmingham parcels group of the Road Haulage Executive read that
applications could be made for the post
he occupied. The superintendent, Mr. J. A. Rissbrook, formerly joint director and Secretary of the group before it was acquired, described this as the first he knew of the possibility of his dismissal.
Originally known as J. Brevitt, Ltd.,
• the concern was started by Mr. Rissbi-ook's grandfather in 1919, and was acquired by the R.H.E. in August last year. At the time he and his brother were operating 30 vehicles, and Mr. Rissbrook was receiving a salary of £1.500 a year.
In February, Mr. Rissbrook took charge in place of his brother. His Salary was £800 a year, and the post was a temporary one. The post advertised was a permanent one at £620 per annum. He applied for the post, but was one of nine unsuccessful applicants. He was informed on June 10 that he would not be retained.
Mr. Rissbrook was formerly chairman of the Wolverhampton branch of the Road Haulage Association.
