The Southern Traffic Commissioners will be extremely busy on July 20th and following days. for Gazette No. 16 shows that a great number of applications will be heard. The name of the Southern Railway appears 62 times in the " Objectors " celumn. Many of the applications are in respect of services to Well-known South Coast resorts.
The Southern Railway Co. is shown in Gazette No. 17 of the South-Eastern Traffic Commissioners to be a prominent objector to numerous applications at the forthcoming hearings, whilst the railway concern is accompanied by a number of municipal authorities, as well as by the Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd.,' the East Kent Road Car Co., Ltd., and other promineat road-transport users, Gazette No. 17 of the Traffic Commissioner for the Metropolitan Area reveals the fact that practically every application for licences is opposed, in some cases by about 10 rival operators. Again the Southern Railway Co. is a prominent objector, as are the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., Soutbdown Motor Services, Ltd., and other wellknown concerns working around London. The applications for expresscarriage licences and tour licences appear to be fairly evenly distributed.
