Metropolitan (Gazette No. 17):

Gaywood House, Wood Street, Westminster, S.W.1, July 20th-24th, 10 a.m.

According to Gazette No. 17 of the Southern Scotland Area Commissioners, 38 backings for tours are to be applied for at the sitting to be held from July 22nd-24th, all these tours commencing from Morecambe. None is objected .to. On the other hand, the London and North-Eastern Railway Co. and Glasgow Corporation: abject to several applications for permission to operate tours. Glasgow Corporation and Dumbarton County Council are the principal objectors to a number of stage-carriage applications. These sittings should prove to be of an interesting and lively character, for opposition is raised to practically every application for stagecarriage and express-carriage licences.

Many objections will be raised at the sittings of the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners from July 21st-23rd to the granting of licences for all types of service, and Gazette No. 13 for that area cites the East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Co., United Automobile Services, Ltd., and the London and North-Eastern Railway Co., as being amongst the principal concerns snaking representations or objections.

Perusal of Gazette No. 12 of the North-Western Traffic Area Commissioners suggests that the forthcoming sittings will be of a quiet nature, for there are few names appearing in the column headed "Objections or Representations."

The same remark applies to the forthcoming sittings of the Traffic Commissioners for the West Midland Area.
