Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ROVISIONAL patent rights have been obtained by Mr. J. A. Harrop, 42, Woodcock Street, Sandal, Wakefield, and by Mr. M. W. Robinson, in respect of a speed-governing device which, in addition, serves as g recorder, the ribbon or chart of which is visible. It also functions as a speedometer.

The operator of the vehicle can select the maximum speed which he wishes to be attained; this can be varied to suit conditions. A mechanical drive is taken from the transmission or wheels in the usual manner adopted for a speedometer. When the vehicle reaches the pre-determined maximum speed, Ina electric contact is made which completes a circuit and operates a mechanism for retarding or discontinuing the supply of fuel. Shortly before the maximum speed is attained, another connection is made, and a coloured light warns the driver that he is nearing the limit set.

In conjunction with this device there is a recording ribbon, or diagram chart, which, tieing geared directly or indirectly to the road wheels of the vehicle, moves through a definite space for a given distatce travelled along the road. In this way a complete record of speed is obtained for any journey. Precautions have been taken to avoid tampering. Any person interested in this device should correspond with Mr. Harrop. 1341
