Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As transport and distribution costs become an increasingly large percentage of commodity prices, operators and hauliers are taking a greater interest in the use of demountable vehicle bodies.

There is not at present a Buyer's Guide to the various demountable body systems available, but Commercial Motor's new series " Demountable distribution" will help potential purchasers in their preliminary selections and when the series is complete, it should also form a useful reference work.

Part 2, dealing with one of our Hazlemere 0-Mount systems was very interesting and since Mr Bunting carried out his tests you may be interested to know that Beautility Furniture have placed orders with us for a further 12 bodies and eight chassis-mounted subframes. By the end of this year their fleet will have increased to nearly 50 bodies and 30 chassis/subframes. There are at present nearly 250 Hazlemere type "A" demountable containers in service with 22 operators.

A few replies to Mr Bunting's comments should also be of interest to readers. Firstly, our jacking legs can be supplied with wheels or swivelling feet to customer's choice and the latest-type Intertruck legs may be fitted with wheels repositioned as suggested in the article. Secondly, the cross-drive shaft end socket failure is now obviated by the substitution of heavierpattern machined steel sockets, with redesigned engagement slots, for the earlier cast fittings. It should also be noted that an increasing number of operators of this

Hazlemere D-Mount system are using pneumatic leg-operating tool to furthei reduce turnround time and effort, and/or s "slave" chassis fitted with hydraulic equipment for faster shunting of bodies in the depot. We also manufacture two type: of hydraulically operated demountablE body systems and the mechanical type "A" system bodies and chassis/subframe: are easily converted to hydraulic operation.

Finally in part 7 of the series, a reference was made to the step-frame floor beinc unique to the Ronway System, whereas ir fact this feature is offered by severe manufacturers, we ourselves incorporatinc it in 60 per cent of our demountable bodies.
