• A net profit before taxation of £720,428 was achieved by Plaxtons (Scarborough) Ltd for the financial year ended August 31 1971, compared with £512,756 for the previous year, the chairman, Mr F. W. Plaxton, has announced. Production of buses and coaches also reached record figures during the year.

After allowing for corporation tax, a balance of £413,378 was left. The directors are recommending a total dividend of 35 per cent for the year, an increase of five per cent; a bonus issue of one new share for every four shares held is also recommended.

Mr Plaxton also stated that the current year has begun encouragingly and the company is in a strong position with a full order book and a much improved availability of chassis.
