Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Transport Association decided at its meeting in London this week to extend its field of activity to embrace European countries. Mr D. McVeigh, the chairman, told CM that by "Europe" he meant EEC, EFTA and Eastern bloc countries.

The-facilities available to operators on the other side of the Channel will be the same as those enjoyed by British operators — fuelling facilities, servicing and repairs and assistance with back-loading. The criteria for admission will also be the same; applications will be vetted by the TA committee and the company's background will be examined and it will need to provide substantial financial guarantees.

The move is being made to assist TA members who anticipate moving into Europe in the next few' years. The chairman told the members that he anticipated a substantial uplift in traffic and mentioned Lithuania as one potential source of new traffic.

European operators wishing for further details of TA membership should apply to the Association Secretary at King Edward House, New Street, Birmingham, B2 4QP.
