• Exports of Bedford trucks and vans, says Vauxhall Motors, set up a new record of 59,667 units in 1971 despite a worldwide drop in demand for trucks during the second half of the year, which has seriously affected current schedules. This total was 271 per cent up on the 1970 figure and over 5000 units more than the previous best. Over 70 per cent of the 64,320 trucks sold in 1971 went overseas.
Total Bedford conutercial vehicle sales in 1971 were 123,568(100,270 in 1970).
