• The half-completed Motec 2 at Livingston, near Edinburgh, was visited on Tuesday by 16 Scottish MPs as guests of the RTITB. Earlier, they had inspected two group training associations in Lanarkshire and Stirling shire.
Drivers and apprentices are already under training at Livingston; it is on the same general lines as Motec 1 but has the advantage of being purpose-built instead of converted. It will eventually house some 200 trainees.
