TESTS have shown that the Edbroist I gear, recently introduced by Edwards Bros. (Tippers), Ltd., Bolton. is capable of tipping a full load in something under 121 seconds. This design is a power-operated hydraulic telescopic slant-type end-tipping gear and is made in the three sizes.
The smallest is Model E.H.1, which weighs 31 cwt. and is capable of handling up to 5 tons; the price of the gear is £67 10s. (or £71 including fitting). Model E.H.2 caters for vehicles up to 7b tons maximum. weighs 31 cwt. and costs £74. For 10-ton machines a twin-ram type. Model E.H.3, is available, this unit weighing 5.1 cwt. and costing £112, or £118 fitted.
Like other products of this manufacturer, the tipping gear incorporates the Edbro six-eylindered wobble-plate pump unit, which is combined with the power take-off and has all moving parts immersed in oil. The tipping gear is mounted on a base plate which straddles the chassis and has the effect of strengthening the frame in use.
