Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This journal, dealing as it does with the "Chariots of War," no less than with the "Wheels of Industry," is now of national importance. Its interests embrace impartially the transport wagon and the parcelcar, the military tractor and the steam lorry.

French for the Army.

Our Campaign Comforts"Want Card" has already been of wonderful service to 11,000 men of the A.S.C., M.T., and, whilst more of these cards are in nrepa, ration in both French and German, we note with interest that the Commercial Motor Users Association has sent out a reprint. of an English-FrenchGerman dictionary. This little booklet has been reprinted from the Sternol " My Car" diary. It does not make any attempt to convey pronunciation, which object is attained in an original manner by the "Want Card" for which we are responsible : any struggling A.S.C. man will have to show the words to parties with whom he is endeavouring to converse.

The distribution of these booklets is being undertaken through the British Red Cross • Society, the French Red Cross Society, and the Royal Naval Division of the Army Service Corps.

A New Booklet.

A new booklet entitled "For Foreign Service" has been added to its War Series by Temple Press Ltd. It is intended to give some idea of what We is like in India, both to the civilian and the Territorial and others who are being ordered abroad for the first time. Published at 6d., post free 7d.

He is still carrying on his agency business, but will now have a considerable plant of machinery tools now available for other work. His telephone number is Hop 2123 and 4.

Our Fund.

We make space to deal elsewhere in this isaue with the position of our "Campaign Comforts" Fund. The donations to the end of the year are seen to have reached a total of 21355, and they are now in excess of 21700. If the sum of 25000, which we are well satisfied it is desirable to read', proves to be forthcoming, the average expenditure per man of the A.S.C., M.T., will be only 6a. 8d. —or possibly less, having regard to the increase of the personnel as new divisions are added to the' Army. On the 15,000 basis, a gift of 250 is equal to four-fifths of a penny per man. Another way of looking at it is this : if a particular manufacturer or trader is interested in vehicles at the Front which reach a total of 500, such a gift averages 2s. per driver, or, on the basis of five A.S.C. men per lorry, less than 5d. 'per man. The petrol and the tire houses are even more widely interested.

It will be seen, therefore, that any suggestions which are put forward by way of argument in support of the claims which the Fund may very properly make upon members of the motor and allied industries are not unreasonable, and certainly are in no sense in the nature of a hardship. 'Furthermore, concentration of effort admittedly leads to economy of administration, and we are concerned with the only central fund which exists for the A.S.C.. M.T., at large. It enjoys Royal patronage and military co-operation. For letters of acknowledgment see page 362.
