FORD ISTO SELL its Europeanproduced Transit Connect van ill selected North American markets from 2009.
The launch,announced by group vice-president of global product development Derrick Kuzak at the Chicago Auto Show, builds on the company's 40% share of the total CV market in the US.
Aimed at small businesses that require compact dimensions. the -transit Connect will he available with a 2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and automatic transmission.
Ford Europe president and chief executive John Fleming says: -We're proud of the fact that the popular Transit Connect will be the first European Ford commercial vehicle to go on sale in North America. I have every confidence that customers will appreciate its unique blend of qualities.
