Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Nies Brigriall A West Midlands haulier has slammed the Spanish subsidiary of Christian Salvesen after it took a whopping six months to settle an invoice.

John Kimberly, owner of Birmingham-based PK European Transport, has finally been paid by Geposa SA for a load of car parts which were hauled by one of his two trucks from Zaragossa to Ellesmere Port last August.

Despite agreeing terms of 60 days, Kimberly says the £1,050 was so overdue that he almost had to make staff cuts: "I told my one driver that I would have to lay him off before the money arrived. I'm a lot happier now I've got the cash but it should never have come to that."

He did a second job for the firm two weeks ago and is now wondering whether he will be paid for that on time.

"I delivered the goods on time in perfect condition and they have rung me up offering me more work." he says.

A spokesman for Christian Salvesen says: The £1,050 invoice out standing to PK European Transport since August has been settled.

"The delay was due to an administrative error, for which we have apologised.

"A separate invoice for a further £1,050 relating to work done in January 2002, will be settled within our standard terms of payment"
