are being advised by the DTp to have them checked for safety. The brand names include Marquis, Elite, Admiral, Club, Visa, Uniband and Ibex. Under test a number of Arvoland Tyres have failed to meet safety standards — particularly at high speeds or with heavy loads. The tyres causing most concern are those produced before April last year. ArvoIand has since gone out of business and is in the hands of the receiver. The DTp recommends that any tyres bearing these brand names should be checked by a tyre dealer.
