German hauliers are no more successful at making money than their British counterparts. According to a survey from Deutsche Transportbank, gross profits in the industry were only 0.8% last year on a turnover of DM9.29 billion. Transportbank loaned German companies DM98 million for vehicle finance in the year, but says its haulage customers need to specialise more and collaborate with each other on back loads to improve profitability.
