• The Government has authorised an increase in London Regional Transport's expenditure on transport for disabled people, which will enable it to provide coach services for disabled passengers between central London and Heathrow airport.
LRT plans to provide this service following the withdrawal of Alder Valley North's "CareLine" service. CareLine sustained heavy operating losses on the circuit around London's railway stations and Heathrow since beginning operations last July.
LRT has said it is planning to adapt its existing Airbus services to carry wheelchair passengers and is also examin ing the possibility of a service which will link the London terminals of the Airbus network at Victoria and Euston with other main-line railway stations in London.
