Still with London Transport, deputy operations director Frank Giles, is redesignated operations manager and deputy general manager, while Charles Greystock, formerly rolling stock engineer, is redesignated engineering manager (bus operations). Terry Lowe becomes technical director (buses).

Wincanton Vehicle Rentals Ltd has named Paul Anderson as regional truck rental manager. For the past year he has been truck hire manager for a company in Sheffield. Lancaster City Council's transport department has named Kathleen Palfreyman as traffic superintendent. Taking over the new job on March 1, she is currently senior assistant traffic superintendent at Blackburn Borough Transport Department. It is thought that Miss Palfreyman — who has previous service with Burnley and Pendle Joint Transport, Stevensons of Spath, Skill's of Nottingham and Trent Motor Traction — will be the only female municipal traffic superintendent currently carrying out such duties.

The Secretary of State for Scotland has appointed three new part-time members of the Scottish Transport Group. They are Andrew Forman, Scottish divisional officer of the Union of Shop Distributive and Allied Workers; Ronald McNeill, retired naval architect, and Henry Sim, vice-convener of Grampian Regional Council. All three serve until December 31, 1984, as do farmer John Macdonald and Glasgow University Prof. Andrew Thomson, who are re-appointed.
