LORRY DRIVER who was sacked lonymous phone call to say their mie, has had its application for dustrial tribunal in Edinburgh. James Watson, of Falkirk, had en a heavy goods vehicle iver for Carron Company of lkirk, manufacturers of central !ating radiators, and the tribu11 was told that on the night ferred to by the anonymous Iler, drivers' records showed at Watson's lorry had broken iwn and he had to stay at his vn home.

Investigations were made by !lice and Watson was sustrided. He was given the ance to defend himself, but 3 firm was later satisfied that 3 radiators had been delivered

to his home by another driver on that occasion.

In his judgment chairman of the tribunal Ian MacDonald said that he was satisfied that the company had made careful inquiries. They did not accept Watson's defence that he was unaware that the radiators were in his house or garage.

Mr MacDonald added: "The tribunal considered that the applicant was an unsatisfactory witness. The tribunal concluded that the company had formed the genuine belief that Mr Watson had obtained the radiators in manner contrary to company rules."
