• Negotiations are continuing between Standard Realty Investors' Corporation, of the United States, and Burnholme and Forder Ltd., the haulage company with registered offices in Luton.
They follow the letter received on Wednesday of last week by Mr. F. E. Hawkes, chairman of Burnholme and Forder, stating SRIC's interest in acquiring the shares of his company.
Burnholme and Forder have 271 vehicles, and depots in Bingley, Gateshead, Glasgow, Heywood, HolyweR, Immingham, Leighton Buzzard, Liverpool, Lowestoft, Newcastle and Penrith. Wholly-owned subsidiaries of the company are W. C. Forder and Sons
Ltd., Crow's Transport Ltd., Crow's Transport (Scotland) Ltd., H. Nuttall and Sons Ltd., F. Wright (Middleton) Ltd., Transport and Warehousing (Heywood) Ltd., Canton Transport Ltd., Fredk. Ray Ltd., Chas. and W. H. Taylor Ltd., Wm. Gaskell and Sons Ltd., I. Tubby Ltd., Alfred W. Ellis (Transport) Ltd., Burnholme Transport (Penrith) Ltd_ and Burnholme Contracts Ltd_ At August 31 1968 assets totalled £858,605.
On Monday of this week a meeting took place between Mr. Hawkes and Mr. Joseph W. Dye, president of SRIC, to discuss the proposals in last week's letter. Neither side was willing to comment on the outcome of that meeting when asked on Tuesday.
