Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FTER they had demolished their old PI depot at John Street, Brierley Hill, Birmingham, Round Oak Motor Services, Ltd., were refused permission to rebuild it, a town planning inquiry .heard last week, Mr. David Stephenson, for the company, said the project would be a great improvement to premises that had been used for 20 years.

For Brierley Hill Urban District Council, Mi. H. Hex said the money would be better spent on a new site in an industrial area.. The business was at present the only industry in a residential street and was surrounded by houses. There was bound to be noise from vehicles night and day, and there would be danger to children living nearby.

Mr. Stephenson replied that the old buildings on the site had to be demolished because they were falling down. The proposals for rebuilding had been rejected because the area was scheduled for residential purposes, yet there would be no change of use and the area of buildings would be only slightly increased.

Mr. John Allison, transport manager, said six of their own vehicles used the premises, . plus 10 or 12 other vehicles which called each day. He agreed that there had been some parking in the street, but said this would be cut down when the new premises were built.

The Ministry of Housing's decision will be announced later.
