Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BRITAIN'S exports of cars, commercial vehicles, parts and accessories last year were valued at more than £52,000,000, or three times the figure for 1938 and 21 times the value of exports in the record year of 1937.

In 1946, as compared with 1937, exports of commercial vehicles (including industrial trucks) amounted to 48,677 units, against 21,072—an increase of 131 per cent. Exports of commercial vehicles showed a much greater percentage increase than in the case of private cars.

Analysis reveals that in 1946, 47,739 new commercial vehicles (excluding general haulage tractors and taxis, but including industrial trucks) were exported, bringing in £18,918,930. December's quota was 4,821 vehicles (£1,963,359), against the 1938 monthly average of 1,190 (i323,597).

Last year, exports of new general haulage tractors totalled 938 (£704,422), of which 131 (£99,800) went overseas in December. In 1938, a monthly average of 99 new general haulage tractors (L15,299) was exported.

In 1946, agricultural tractors and parts were exported to the value of E3,414,305. December's contribution was £294,033, against a monthly average of £51,796 in 1938.

U.S. RECORD ROAD TRAFFIC

LAST year set up a peace-time record I—Ifor goods transport by road in America. The American Trucking Association's traffic index, which computes the 1938-40 average as 100, stood at 193 in November. This was the highest figure recorded in November in peace of war, and was 19.5 above the index for November, 1945.

Altogether, 197 operators in 40 States carried a total of nearly 2,01)0,000 short tons in November.
