Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Human Interest, Labor

Havingjust read the driver recruitment article (CM16-22 Nov) I felt I had to write to you about how misleading it was. There might be loads of jobs for HGV drivers, but the key word you forgot was experience— without it nobody wants to know. But how do you get that experience if nobody will give you a chance?

I passed my Class lfour years ago and lam still driving a Transit I have lost count of how manyjobs I have applied for. I have even gone knocking on the doors of local haulage firms, but always get the same reply of 'minimum two years' experience". After four years I have all but given up on ever driving a truck.

I don't want to put anyone off; it is just that your article made it sound so easy. I would advise anyone to make sure they can afford to fork out the money when there might not be a job at the end of it.

On that depressing note, there are people out here wanting to get into the industry, and if anyone wants a 28-year-old with a clean licence and experience of working on and servicing trucks (but no driving experience ) I am open to offers.

Sorry for moaning, but it's not all roses out there even if you've got a licence.
