• Highland Regional Council has taken delivery of three Foden 4000 Series 6x6 snowplough/gritters (CM 10-16 August) which are the first 6WD Fodens to enter civilian service. They were codesigned with HRC to suit its arduous operating environment and are expected to provide a service life of at least 15 years.
They feature a new design of Telstar salt spreader/gritting body which makes extensive use of stainles steel.
Councillor John Young, who is chairman of the Highlands Region roads and transport committee, says: "Foden Trucks was the only company who could undertake this challenging project and which was willing to listen to the Region's needs."
