Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cummins Engine plans to extend its warranty cover to engines up to four years old from next April. This follows reports from secondhand vehicle pricing analyst CAP that confidence in Cummins L10powered tractive units is "dwindling".

The scheme, which is subject to the completion of a three-month survey, will operate through existing Cummins OEM dealers and distributors, and will have a six or 12-month option.

Since July the company has been running a new engine warranty scheme, called Cum mins CoverPac, covering vehicles over 224kW (300hp) which are registered before 1 April 1990. The scheme is aimed at the smaller operator, and in the case of engine failure it pays £100 a day to the operator, after 48 hours.

The company plans to introduce a number of schemes in 1990 for operators with up to five vehicles. They account for 80% of Cummins' business.

0 Cummins predicts that by the end of 1990 there will be over 100,000 Cumminspowered trucks in the UK. It expects this figure to double over the next live years.
