THE EU DRIVER CPC will become law by September 2009. dictating, among other things, that all truck drivers in the UK require 35 hours of vocational training every five years in order to continue working in the industry.
To prepare the industry for this important new piece of legislation, CM is organising its third annual driver CPC Conference on 18 September at Aston Villa Football Club, Birmingham, sponsored by Fraikin and Mercedes-Benz.
Chaired by CMs editor-in-chief, Brian Weatherley, the conference will explain to delegates just how they should be preparing
for the regulations. Speakers from the Driving Standards Agency, Vosa and leading law firm Backhouse Jones will give an overview of the rules, while representatives from the bus and coach sector, where the regs are being implemented this year, will give delegates an insight into some of the issues they are likely to manage.
Delegates will also receive a 10-point action plan for implementation to take away and use in their operation.
