NISSAN HAS developed a 'smart' accelerato pedal which its tests show can improve fuel economy by 5-10%.
Called ECO Pedal, the device, which can be switched off, detects when pedal pressure exceeds the amount required to accelerak with optimum economy.
If a continuous warning light is ignored, ECO Pedal physically pushes the pedal back to the most favourable position.
Nissan is confident that the driver aid will be available on production vehicles as early as next year.
