IT WAS announced this week that the winner of the CM Lorry Driver of the Year Competition will be visiting Sweden and the Scania factory as part of his Champion's award. This is a European study tour, sponsored by the Michelin Tyre Company.
The driver and his manager will visit the Scania plant at Sodertalje, and Swedish operators. The piece de resistance will be driving a Scania in the "filthiest weather we can produce", said a Michelin spokesman.
The CMLDOY champion has this "privilege" every year in a European city and proves to be a British driving ambassador. The winner will be known late on the afternoon of Sunday, September 14, when the final 250 drivers compete at Cranfield aerodrome, Bedford.
