• The West Midland LA Mr John Else granting an 0 licence for a 74--ton tipper ti an owner-driver in Birmingham on Monday suggested the applicant should "lose hi cheque book". This, said the LA, woul. prevent the possitle temptation to spend th, money that had been set aside for vehicl finance.
Mr D. E. Skelding, representing Mr F. Baker, of Bilston. said that Mr Baker wa taking over the vehicle on hire purchas terms from C. H. Jones (Walsall) Ltd, th company with which he had been employe as a driver for many years.
In evidence, Mr Baker said that he ha paid three of the 24 monthly instalments c £120 to C. H Jones Ltd, who supplied a his fuel oil and undertook his maintenanc and repair work. Out of his monthl earnings he took a wage of about £112 an set aside funds for vehicle finance.
