• Believed by Chrysler UK to be unique is the Commer Walk Thru chassis cab acting as a tractor, to the 2000 Cu ft Pem semi-trailer, With a gvw of 7+ tons and a payload of 4 tons, it will be shown for the first time at the Commercial Motor Show in September.

It is one of the vehicles at the Show that will have been produced by Chrysler's Special Equipment Operations department. This department, only one year old, now handles nearly 25 per cent of the production from the Dunstable plant.

The other SE0 exhibits will include the largest vehicle produced by Dodge, the KO 1000, a 28-ton gcw tractive unit of 106i2i; wheelbase, SEO coupling gear and a Perkins V8 .510 diesel engine.

A low loader six-whccled chassis specially designed for the brewery and allied trades has been based on the Commer VC5. It is fitted with a York rear bogie and although only 14.4 tons gvw, is capable of a 10-ton payload.

The other models are a six-wheeled chassis based on the Dodge K1050, designed at 22 tons gross to carry 6 cu yd concrete mixer equipment, and a Dodge KP700 20-ton gcw tractive unit fitted with a Perkins 6.354 heavy-duty engine suitable for sustained high-speed of high-mileage operation.
