• A 100 per cent increase in carrying capacity for its 24-hour daily scheduled road transport service between London and Paris; an extension of the service to include a daily import service from Paris to London, and a new export service between London and Brussels are announced by Seabourne Shipping Co Ltd, of Cambridge House, Cambridge Road, Barking, Essex. The company introduced its guaranteed Fast-Freight 24-hour daily export service to Paris in May this year.
Existing 3-ton capacity vans are being replaced by 6-ton TIR box vans. The new vans, each with a carrying capacity ol 6000kg, will commence operating on September 1. The flat tariff system ol charges introduced with the service will continue, consignments of up to 250kg being charged at la per kilo and at 9d pet kilo thereafter. The "money back'' guarantee, will continue to operate.
