Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A N improved type of metal roller shutter known as the Nyloy has been introduced by Dover Roller Shutters, Ltd., Spring Gardens Factory Estate, Romford, Essex,

together with a reduction in prices. The 2-in, wide laths are specially extruded in light alloy by Southern Forge, Ltd., to provide a male flange along one edge and a female on the other so that the pieces may be interlocked.

There is sufficient freedom for the shutter to be wound around a roller of 4 in. diameter when retracted. It may be arranged to be drawn into the roof of the vehicle, in which case the company advise the fitting of a tray so that water on the outer surface will not find its way to the load space beneath.

The extrusions are stated to be twice as strong and stiff as those used previously. When the shutter is pulled down, the exterior surface is flat except for the interlocks of the flanges. These have impeded the entry of water at 150 p.s.i.

End locks are made in Akulon nylon material, whereas steel was formerly employed. The locks fit closely in the steel-channel uprights and effectively reduce rattle yet slide smoothly, so that opening and closing the shutter requires little effort. The nylon is treated by the company to increase its toughness.

The Nyloy shutter, which has been developed during the past two years and is being ordered by a number of big operators, can be made in widths of up to 12 ft., as may be specified for sideloading vehicles, and in any length. It can also be fitted as a garage door.

Prices are about 5 per cent. lower than those of superseded types. A shutter measuring 5 ft. sq. is £19 5s. and one 6 ft.
