commercial vehicles in March and April with the figures for the corresponding months of last year probably show the beginning of an upsurge in demand with the removal of purchase tax on goods-vehicle chassis.

In March, 23,295 vehicles were newly registered--almost as many as in the third month of 1958 (23,494). But whereas the total for April, 1958, was 19.425. the figure for last April was 3.493 higher at 22,918. Details appear in the accompanying table.
