Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DURING the year ended June last, 14,485 new C-licence holders came into existence and the number of C-Licence vehicles increased by 33,511. At that date there were 853,579 C-licence vehicles in the hands of 427,098 operators.

Of the total of vehicles, 481,199, or over half, weighed not more than 30-cwt. unladen and most of them were probably operated by retail traders. Vehicles weighing not more than 3 tons unladen numbered 798,866.

• OIL FUEL PRICE CUT

A REDUCTION of ad. per gallon in the price of oil fuel was announced by the major oil companies last week. Prices of other products, including vaporizing oil and paraffin, were also cut, but the cost of petrol was unaffected, Users of oil-engined vehicles in this country are estimated to save £500,000 a year as the result of this reduction. In 1952, the tonnage of oil fuel delivered to road transport operators in this country was 1,181,000. ,

2,256 ELECTRUKS BUILT

DUR1NG the past 10 years, 2,256 Electra electric prams have been produced by T. H. Lewis, Ltd., and Sharpleshall; Ltd. This was revealed by Mr. W. A. Nell, chairman of Express Dairy Co., Ltd., who are the principal users of this make of vehicle.

Nearly 1,000 Eleetruks have been supplied to other users in this country and abroad, many of which have been acquired for such purposes as refuse removing and the transport of luggage.

MINISTER REJECTS APPEAL

N appeal by Mr. W. Dykes, of PA Cowley, against the decision of the East Midland Licensing Authority refusing to grant him a licence to operate new excursions and tours from Littlemore, has been rejected by the Minister of Transport. The appellant has been ordered to pay costs.
