Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MALCOLM LOGISTICS has acquired 64 new MAN TGX 26.440 6x2/2 BLS tractor units, it was announced at the CV Show.

The new trucks join the Malcolm Logistics leet of 320 units, and are replacements for 54 outgoing MANs and 10 Renaults.

According to Steve Sugden, group leet engineer, the operator placed the order with MAN because the truck manufacturer offers a wide product range that suits all of its requirements.

“Fuel economy is good and in line with the best performing brand in our leet,” says Sugden.

Another reason for going for the EGR Euro-5 trucks is the reduced running costs and increased reliability, as a result of not having to constantly top up with AdBlue. “Having no requirement for AdBlue is a great beneit,” adds chief executive Andrew Malcolm. “There is a substantial cost saving, and reliability should be better due to fewer components in the exhaust system.

“There is also the beneit of not having to store and handle AdBlue on site, and the health and safety issues that go along with that.” Malcolm Logistics also inds MAN’s TeleMatics leet management system invaluable.

“This allows us to continuously monitor driver performance and driving style, and we are then able to target drivers who fall below the required standard and retrain where appropriate,” says Malcolm.

“It also allows us to benchmark performance and set a minimum target in areas such as idle time, harsh braking and use of cruise control.”
