0 n a classic "moving the goldposts" situation, a driver was flabbergasted to discover a ticket on her Fiesta after workmen raised the parked vehicle during the night to paint double yellow lines underneath it.
"There was yellow paint all over one of the tyres," says astonished Nicola Ratcliffe, who quickly phoned to complain.The police withdrew the ticket after explaining that the zealous bobby who slapped it on Nicola's car was new to the town and unaware the lines were fresh. The firm who painted the lines says it's policy to lift vehicles in such circumstances. Better, I suppose, than painting over the vehicle!
