• Deregulation of Britain's milk business has attracted interest from producers in different types of collection tankers.
NFT Distribution's Coldstream division has already taken delivery of the first five of 40 Fruehauf short, 16,500-litre (3,630gal) tankers for farm collections.
Each one has air-sprung single axle running gear and is 8.02m (26ft) long to cope with restricted access to farms.
The stainless-steel single compartment tanks have a new type of moulded, expanded polystyrene segmented lining that insulates and speeds up construction.
The tank trailer's unladen weight has been kept down to 3.5 tonnes by using computer analysis of the running gear and sub-frame plus GRP and reinforcing rings.
