Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seddon Atkinson will launch its multi-wheeler chassis at TipCon, (as predicted exclusively in Commercial Motor 6-12 January). Six by four models will be powered by Cummins L275 engine, which will also be available in the 8x4 chassis. Eightleggers will also have the option of the more powerful L325 engine.

Gearboxes have been changed from previous multi-wheelers to cope with the higher engine torque ratings. Standard for six-wheelers is the nine-speed, constant-mesh Eaton RT11609A with direct top ratio.

The synchromesh ZF 9S109 overdrive box is offered as an option, alongside the Eaton Twin Splitter TS12612. Eightwheelers share the Eaton RT-11609 as a standard fitting, with the Twin Splitter available as an option.

At the rear, the Rockwell R T 4 4 153 double-drive bogie with cross and inter-axle diff locks is common to both models. Final drive ratios are 3.21 and 3.42:1 when fitted with the direct top ratio gearboxes. ZFequipped vehicles are offered with 4.56 and 4.89:1.

Twin-leaf parabolic springs are fitted at the front for both vehicles, with Hendrickson Norde rubber suspension at the rear. Three wheelbases are available for the six-wheeler; 4.5m, 5.05m and 5.85m. Eight-wheelers are offered with two options; 5.8m and 6.3m. The chassis frame has been widened at the front, compared with previous models, from 0.92m to 1.02m, to accommodate the new Iveco cab. Models will be around 70kg lighter than their predecessors.

Day cabs will be fitted as standard with a single bunk sleeper offered as an option. Prices start at £58,992 (ex-VAT) for sixwheelers, and £64,992 (ex-VAT) for eight-wheelers with the L275 engine.
