Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MI With reference to your municipals bulk buying article (CM March 17-23) on the Consortium for Purchasing and Distribution.

I wish to reassure existing membership of the Consortium that they have not paid, and indeed would not be requested to pay, a "con" on joining. It is in fact a contribution, a small but nonetheless significant difference, and one which represents excellent value for money.

I would also like to reassure readers in the Isle of Wight that the Consortium recognises and very much values Author

ity's Membership as a county council, not a district council. Robert Elsey Deputy Consortium Supplies Officer, Consortium for Purchasing and Distribution, Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Our apologies to Mr Elsey. Unfortunately the gremlims got into the copy and switched the original wording form "a considerable one-off payment and a deposit on joining'.

Of course the Isle of Wight is a county council and the writer is being asked to return his geography 0-level forthwith. Ed.
