• Rental company Swan National, which doubled its CV fleet last year, is to expand into Europe.
Managing director Freddie Aldous used the formal opening of Swan's new £8 million Uxbridge headquarters, to announce: "Discussions are already taking place for further expansion into Europe for both daily rental and leasing." The company has boosted its CV fleet to over 1,500 in the past twelve months.
Richard Page, the company's international sales and marketing manager says: "We are considering how to develop into Europe, particularly with regard to 1992. We are talking with established companies."
Page admits that the recent link-up between competitors Inter Rent and Europcar is encouraging Swan to look at the European market sooner than originally envisaged: "With commercial vehicles we are paying greater attention to this sector in the UK, and we will look in this sector in Europe. There are very exciting opportunities in Germany, France, and in Scandinavia."
CI Swan National Leasing has launched Tax Saver, a new serviced designed to allow its customers to overcome the disadvantages of contract hire when compared with outright purchase in terms of corporation tax and VAT.
