Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As exclusively revealed in last week's Commercial Motor, Daf Bus has confirmed that it is teaming up with PSV bodybuilder Optare to produce a new single-deck city bus based on its SB220 bus underframe.

Daf Bus sales manager Bob McLeod says that the first models will be supplied from July, and that several UK operators have already expressed interest, including private companies, former PTEs and a number of ex-National Bus Company subsidiaries.

0 Daf Bus is stepping up its attack on the bus and coach repower market with a replacement engine kit for the Leyland Mk I National, based on its 11.6-litre Daf DKDL 1160 diesel.

The naturally-aspirated DIOL engine develops 121kW (164hp) at 2,000rpm, with a peak torque of 655NM (483 lbft) at 1,300rpm. It mounts directly onto the existing National gearbox without modification, and costs £9,700 exVAT, including mounting brackets, drive belts, valves and pipe work.

The repower kit carries a 12-month unlimited distance warranty, and Nationals fitted with the DKDL 1160 engine will also be covered by Daf Bus's service back-up scheme; the company will also provide installation training and fitment approval. A Daf repower kit for the Bedford coach chassis is now on the cards.
