CORAS IOMPAIR EIREANN, On Irish semi-state transport corn pany, competes at a disadvan tage in the haulage market, it chairman, Paul Conlon, claimer recently.
In a paper delivered to the Chartered Institute of Transpor in Dublin, he said CIE operatec at a disadvantage because it ad heres strictly to drivers' hourt rules, strictly observes mainten ance standards, and honoun legal requirements for vehiclt loads.
"Can the private sector admi to honouring these oblige tions?" he asked.
He said national price control: affected CIE, but not its privatt sector competitors.
Mr Conlon also called fo stricter law enforcement.
