OPERATORS who want to break into the French or Italian haulage markets have until May 15 to stake their claim for a limited number of permits.
The Department of Transport has a strictly limited number of permits available to hauliers without general quota allocations and who are unable to take advantage of either the "selfhelp" co-operation or road/rail schemes.
They should contact the International Road Freight Office at Westgate House, Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 11W (phone 0632 610031, ext 265,274 or 249) and ask for a form SNC/84 for either French only or French and Italian permits.
