SALLY the Viking Line has won consent for the construction of a breakwater at Ramsgate Harbour. It will allow freight and ferry services to operate in all weather.
Last year Sally lost over 100 sailings due to bad weather.
Sally will now be turning its attention to improving road access for lorries coming to the port.
A Sally spokesman told CM that there had been a fair amount of environmental opposition to the breakwater's construction, but added that common sense had prevailed.
