SPILLERS' decision to leave the bread industry will leave the company with 2000, vehicles, including 250 bulk tankers, for sale.
And as a result more than 2,000 drivers and driver-salesmen will be looking for new jobs — but it is anticipated that the other bakery giants will be in the market for both men and machines.
Vehicles ranging from Leyland 550FG and Ford D300s to bulk tankers from 16 to 32 tons gross, Ford and Leyland, will be on the market following the shock announcement.
No decision has yet been made on just how the massive fleet is to be sold but a Spillers' spokesman told CM that the company would be looking for offers before any idea of auctioning the fleet would be entertained.
